There is no question that carrots are healthy for you and are a great ingredient for juicing. The truth is that few people turn their noses up at carrots so they are always a winner.
Not only are they great on their own, but carrots are great when combined in a juice with other ingredients too.
Before we get to the carrot juice recipes, let’s take a look at why they will make you healthier.
The Health Benefits of Carrots
Carrots are healthy for you in a variety of ways. They are high in many vitamins and minerals including beta-carotene, potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium.
Here are some of their health benefits when juiced:
- Reduction of heart diseases risk. Carrots can lower cholesterol and break up fats in the liver. This means a lower risk of heart disease.
- Lower blood pressure. Carrots are high in potassium, which dilates the blood vessels and coumarin that lowers blood pressure. This improves body circulation and enhances the function of all the body’s organs. Lower blood pressure means less stress on the heart and a decreased risk of heart attacks, stroke, and atherosclerosis.
- Enhance the immune system. Carrots are high in antibacterial and antiseptic properties so enhance the body’s immune system. Also, high levels of vitamin C in carrots stimulate white blood cells. These are an important part of the immune system.
- Promote digestion. Carrot juice is a digestion stimulant with mild diuretic properties. It is alkaline in nature so useful for the stomach.
- Prevent cancer. With high levels of beta carotene (vitamin A), carrots reduce the risk of several types of cancer.
- Protective in diabetics. The carotenoids in carrots regulate blood sugar and diabetes is better controlled. Carrots also help to regulate the use of glucose and insulin in the body. This means fewer blood sugar fluctuations in diabetics.
